Inspection

On May 12th, I assessed the site in preparation for the installation of new cabling. I reviewed each floor to determine the best approach for the installation.

The room on the 9th floor, where all current fiber connections converge, is suitable to serve as the central distribution point for the new fiber connections to floors 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. The internet entry point from KPN or Vodafone will also need to be installed here. A 19-inch rack is required to house the OLT, modems, and routers. To ensure sufficient space, I recommend using a tall 47U cabinet.

Each of the mentioned floors will need two fiber optic cables running to a small patch cabinet with space for two 19-inch optical distribution panels. From these panels, a fiber cable will be routed to each room. The optical panels do not require power.

In every room, an ONT (Optical Network Terminal) will be installed. This device will provide WiFi, VOIP telephony, and IPTV connectivity via the already installed UTP network cables. Some rooms will be more difficult to wire due to their near-complete construction. This matter will be discussed with the team from BV Elektra Amsterdam, but installation will only proceed after approval from Hotusa.

The existing multimode fiber optic cable is sufficient for the remainder of the network and can be extended to other floors where internet access is required. However, this is beyond the scope of the current document.
